The University of Manitoba is Western Canada’s first University and the only research-intensive post-secondary institution in the Province of Manitoba. HVDC Transmission and Power Electronic Apparatus for Power Systems are a major focus area.

Research in the area of energy has intensified in response to the world’s escalating demand for clean and reliable energy. The researchers at the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Engineering are engaged in developing advanced technologies in the areas of power systems and renewable energies. State-of-the-art laboratories and other facilities are available to faculty members and both graduate and undergraduate students.
